Notes From The Front Desk

June, 2008

There's a song from the musical "Mame" that goes like this: Open a new window, open a new door, travel a new highway, that's never been tried before. Well, I guess you can say we've done just that!

This "recital year" we've opened a few new windows and a few new doors. It has been an exciting adventure and I'd like to thank each and every one of our staff and families for your support, assistance, friendship and your patience. I recognize for many it was "traveling a new highway". The growing pains were not too bad...but there were a few (you may recall the dreaded flood). We were very excited for the audiences to "LOOK" at how far we've come in just one short season, not even a full year has passed. The dancers worked hard and they deserve a standing ovation for their energy, effort and enthusiasm! "Kudos" to one and all.

Believe it or not, after 50-years we were still able to pull a few "firsts" out of our Top Hats...We performed for the first time at Northville High School. Our ballet was performed with a "live" pianist for the first time. Audiences were tickled pink to Be Our Guest for the first musical theatre production. Of course for our graduating seniors and juniors this was the their final curtain call...and that is always a sad moment for them, their families and also for us. In many cases we have watched you grow up before our eyes. Congratulations and know that our door is always open as you move on. Always remember, in the words of Auntie Mame..."Show 'em how to dance to a new rhythm, whistle a new song, toast with a new vintage, the fizz doesn't fizz too long. There's only one way to make the bubbles stay, simply travel a new highway, dance to a new rhythm, open a new window, every day!"

Enjoy a great, and safe, summer!

Miss Terri
